WASHINGTON (AP) -- NATO's top official is praising allied troops in Afghanistan for showing "remarkable restraint" amid recent anti-coalition violence.
The allied chief, Anders Fogh Rasmussen of Denmark, told a NATO seminar at a Washington hotel that the Afghan mission remains important.
He praised the top allied commander in Kabul, U.S. Gen. John Allen, for his swift response to the violence, including the killing of two US officers Saturday in the Afghan Interior Ministry.
In his remarks Tuesday, the NATO chief said, "We must not lose sight of our goal: a stable Afghanistan."
