Colorado Springs is welcoming first lady Michelle Obama Monday, along with athletes from all over the country for the 2012 Warrior Games.

The first lady spoke at Monday's opening ceremony, greeting the 200 wounded veterans for the competition. She welcomed wounded veterans from all branches of the military and called them an inspiration to all Americans.

“You can inspire these kids to get active; you can inspire them to overcome obstacles; you can inspire them to achieve things they never dreamed of,” the first lady said.

Over 200 servicemen and women are expected to take part in the games.

The third annual Warrior Games run all week at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and the Air Force Academy. Over six days there will be several events, including swimming, basketball, and track and field.

In the past two years, the Marines have taken home the Chairman's Cup award for winning the most individual medals.
