McCain Calls For US To Lead On Syria Airstrikes

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Arizona Sen. John McCain is calling for the United States to lead an international effort to begin air strikes on Syria.

McCain says that the Syrian government's brutal crackdown on its opponents has resulted in war crimes and that its neighbors in the region will intervene militarily, with or without the U.S. From the Senate floor on Monday, McCain said the United States has a moral and strategic obligation to force out President Bashar Assad and his loyalists.

Last month, McCain urged international cooperation to help supply the anti-Assad rebels with weapons and other aid. At the time, he stopped short of endorsing direct U.S. military involvement.

Now that McCain has spoken they can wheel him back to the waiting room until the next plan has to be sold. Next on the program: Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham.

no matter who is president, we should not get involved in Syria and shouldn't have in Libia. Those people hate us, as soon as they change governments they will go right back to screaming Death to America. Let them shoot each other I don't care about them at all.

Let's see, he is calling for an "international effort" but stopped short of endorsing direct U.S. military involvement? Just who do you think would be DIRECTLY involved in carrying out the air strikes? New World Order John McCain thinks actions like this are all right as long as they fall under UN control. We had little choice in the 2008 election, what we have or what we would have had. And they erroneously called Barry Goldwater extreme in 1964! Too bad Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party's candidate didn't win in 2008.

Really? If McCain had been elected we wouldn't be considering sending troops into Syria? Or were you referring to a different mess?

This is exactly why I didn't vote for McCain. He's a warmonger who wants to put more of our troops in harm's way. Our troops should be used to defend our country and our constitution, not to overthrow governments in other countries that aren't threatening us.
