No charges will be dropped against Pvt. Bradley Manning after a judge denied the request to drop eight of the 22 counts Manning faces for allegedly leaking government secrets to the website Wikileaks.
Manning's lawyers argued that the charges are unconstitutional. Among other allegations, Manning is accused of aiding the enemy by causing thousands of classified documents to be published on Wikileaks. Manning, 24, is believed to have downloaded the documents while working as an intelligence analyst in Baghdad in 2009-2010.
Col. Denise Lind rejected arguments that the government unconstitutionally vague language in charging Manning with unauthorized possession and classified information.
Lind said Friday that Manning's trial will likely begin in either November or January.
