Homecoming Of 40 Soldiers Delayed

A group of 40 Fort Carson soldiers were expected to be welcomed home Wednesday afternoon, but the ceremony was delayed several times. As of this update, the ceremony is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

The soldiers are members of the 749th Ordnance Company who spent a year in Afghanistan. Their mission was to dispose of explosives and train Afghan security forces in the same task.

During the deployment, the 40 soldiers successfully destroyed 415 improvised explosive devices totaling over 97,000 pounds.
