A fallen Fort Carson soldier is receiving a special posthumous honor Friday.
The Mountain Post is renaming its Soldier Family Care Clinic in honor of 26-year-old Pfc. Eric P. Woods. The health care facility is being dedicated Friday morning.
Woods was killed in 2005 while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom when his vehicle was struck by a bomb and overturned. The Department of Defense says Woods was trying to assist a wounded soldier at the time.
Woods was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, which was based at Fort Carson at the time.
Last year, the Army's surgeon general approved renaming the clinic after Woods.
