A Christmas tree is prepared for a soldier's family.
Approximately 500 Christmas trees are being given out to soldiers and their families at Fort Carson.
Since 2005, the Trees for Troops program has delivered trees to military families domestically and overseas. This year, the program hopes to surpass the 100,000 tree mark.
“I like it a lot. It’s helpful. I can get more gifts for my kids,” said Virginia Moody. “They’re extremely excited. They got up at five o’clock this morning!”
“I haven’t had a real tree since I was five-years-old,” said Katy Cancy.
On Fort Carson, the tree distribution is taking place at the Mountain Post Sports Complex. It will continue on Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.
