Ft. Carson Soldier Dies In Afghanistan

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Fort Carson soldier.

Spc Kyle R. Rookey, 23, of Oswego, New York, died Sept. 2, in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. The DOD says his death is from a non-combat related incident.

He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

Spc Rookey joined the army in Mar. 2010. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and an Army Service Ribbon.
