Sgt. Daniel J. Brown
Fort Carson is planning to honor the member of a fallen soldier Wednesday afternoon. Sgt. Daniel J. Brown, 27, died supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Brown died March 24, in Kandahar province, as a result of injuries from an improvised explosive device (IED), according to the Department Of Defense.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
Among many awards he received during his service, he was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star.
He deployed both to Afghanistan (May 2011) and Iraq (March 4, 2005 – February 19, 2006).
The memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Provider's Chapel on post.
