Fort Carson is getting a new garrison commander, who's responsible for the post's infrastructure.

Col. Robert F. McLaughlin will transfer command to Col. David L. Grosso in a ceremony Thursday.

McLaughlin has been garrison commander since June 2009. He is deploying to Afghanistan, where he will serve as chief of staff for U.S. forces.

Grosso is deputy commander of the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Carson.
