Fort Carson is holding a memorial service for a soldier from Oswego, N.Y., who died in Afghanistan.
The service for 23-year-old Spc. Kyle R. Rookey will be Monday at Soldier's Memorial Chapel at the infantry post outside Colorado Springs.
Rookey died Sept. 2 in Jalalabad in a noncombat related incident. The Pentagon hasn't released any further information.
He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team, part of the 4th Infantry Division based at Fort Carson.
Rookey operated unmanned aerial vehicles and had served in the Army for 2 1/2 years. He had been deployed in Afghanistan since March.
