WASHINGTON (AP) -- Opening another front in her campaign to support service families, first lady Michelle Obama is unveiling a new push for jobs on or near military bases.

Her nearly year-old Joining Forces campaign has now lined up commitments for more than 15,000 jobs in the coming years. According to her office, many of the commitments come from telemarketing and customer support companies and will enable the spouses and veterans to work from home.

Mrs. Obama notes home-based jobs are especially helpful to military families because they move so often across state lines -- about 10 times more often than the typical U.S. family.

She's paying a visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to distribute Easter treats from the White House pastry shop to military families staying there.

Freedom of the press, not the military, truly keeps us free. Give the jobs to the reporters spouses. Ok, I'm being a little facetious but most military have 2-3 retirements (military, fed civilian, then contact or). So I got 3 questions: 1) how f-ing greedy can you be.2) how much do you REALLY hate your Spose to continue working into your 6th decade/3rd retirement 3) do you think the American taxpayer is an indentured servant to pay your multiple retirements and the American consumer a sucker to pay your 20% discount while you squander everything you earn on a. sweet ride since you dont pay mortgage or rent while your spouse gets preference over all other taxpayers? My God. The DOD truly makes dependent Teat Sucklers

It's sad how many people fall for the Obamas' cozenings.

Obama is using the Clinton tactic. After the US left Iraq the first time, Clinton gutted the military. Maybe if the spouses have jobs the military member won't need a pay raise ... yea right. Even better if the economy was better we wouldn't need Mrs. Obama's input at all.

Maybe, Obama would have better luck, if he got a "Blue Dress" like Clinton did.

They need to talk to Ft. Carson on the way they treat some of the spouses that have worked there. It's all on WHO you know if you get a job and keep it. If you speak up about policies being broken you get canned or forced to resign.

Yup...that's how it goes. Government employees are constantly preached to about ethics and being good stewards of the taxpayers' resources. But if you speak up about wasteful practices, go ahead and start looking for a new job.

A play for votes. Politics. It's hard to respect them even if what they do might benefit some people.

It is easy to see that the game here is underpay the soldier and cuts his benefits because *They knew what they were getting into - after all they VOLUNTEERED! > Don't Whine soldier you don't need limbs anyway... We will make opportunity for your wife or husband and kids to work instead. Someone has to pay for the illegals to have baby's and buy drugs.
