Roughly 9,000 soldiers from four major units are set to deploy to Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.
Four hundred and fifty soldiers with the 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Carson will be deploying to Afghanistan this summer.
Also deploying will be about 3,000 personnel from the 2nd Calvary Regiment from Vilseck, Germany; 3,200 from the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division from Fort Hood, Texas; and 2,200 with the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division from Fort Knox, Kentucky.
