A new commander will take over Fort Carson’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team Tuesday morning. Col. John S. Kolasheski will transfer command to Col. Omar Jones.
Col. Kolasheski became commander of the unit almost three years ago. The 2nd BCT includes nearly 6,000 soldiers.
Col. Jones comes to Ft. Carson from the National War College in Washington, D.C. where he earned a master’s degree in National Security Strategy.
Seven other unit leaders from within the brigade will change command and responsibility during the ceremony. It will be held on Founder’s Field at 8:00 a.m.
