A lot of you are talking about this on our 11 News Facebook page. A man bought a beer for his fallen friend and reserved a spot for him at a local restaurant/bar.
The beer and note were left by a man who only signed at the bottom with "T." It was at the Old Chicago restaurant/bar on Austin Bluffs and Academy in Colorado Springs Friday night.
Alyssa Mazzetti was bartending and said the place was packed, but they kept the chair empty and the glass full until closing.
"I think it kind of hit a lot of us a lot more because it was almost like that silence for that gentlemen," Mazzetti said visibly moved.
Alyssa said, at the time, none of the bartenders knew what was going on when the man reserved the seat and it wasn't until they read what he had written did they realize the significance.
The note reads, in part, “reserved for CPO Glen Doherty.. Seal Team 3.. We'll see you on the other side”
"It was very breathtaking, I've never witnessed anything (like that), and just to see that kind of friendship and the meaning behind it and everything else, it was very sad," Mazzetti said.
Alyssa told us all night, people would see the note, stop, and take a minute to honor CPO Glen Doherty.
We talked to Glen's brother over the phone Saturday; he told us his brother was a part of Seal Team 3 and died on September 12, 2012 during the Benghazi attack. He's not sure who may have done this, but thinks the tribute is a really great one.
