AFA Exercise Continues Friday

If you hear of any alarming incidents at the Air Force Academy Friday, don't panic.

The Academy is continuing the basewide readiness exercise begun Thursday, which have already resulted in area residents hearing and seeing strange things, such as sirens and smoke.

The Academy said in a release prior to the exercise that artificial smoke could possibly be seen on the base. After receiving calls from viewers Thursday concerned over reports of a lockdown within the cadet area, a spokesman with the Academy elaborated that the lockdown was also part of the exercise.

The exercise could also cause delays at both gates Friday.

The Academy wants Springs residents to know that the exercises are planned and controlled.

WoW!! I misspelled a word due to typing too fast yesterday. Thank you "wow" for coming to my defense and to the defense of so many others who make mistakes and happen to throw out a TYPO. I agree some people are too LONELY in this town with nothing better to do than harp on comments on stories, as well as the spelling or grammar in the stories on as well. We are all human and there is no such perfect human out there. GET A LIFE PEOPLE!!!

Please do not get upset at people who are not smart enough to realize the missing "t" was simply a typo.

Should be "no such thing as a perfect human out there", just saying.

actually... the smoke is still artificially created hence its called artificial be it chemical or water vapor, that hollywood has done away with because it doesn't look real enough. As for attacking someone for misspelling aircraft are you people really that lonely? do you want a hug? Also Should anon have put think before you type? not exactly the same epitaph is it? these people work very hard and unlike, I'm guessing, you have signed their life away, and all people like you and miss "artificial whats that mean?" can do is mock them, when all they are trying to do is give the city a fair warning? wow

You are right. Instead of poking fun about fire maybe we should ask an expert. How about the Fire Cheap?

An artificial aircraf or a real aircraf?

Debbie, you are right. Based on the highly accepted concepts of reality that I perceive as true, if the smoke is recognized as smoke, it is "real" smoke without regard to causation. The smoke they will be using is also real as it is caused by a chemical reaction to a heat element, not a water-chemical vapor like is often used film. Now to other things. Writing in a comment page is not "opening your mouth." like one would have you believe, unless you are a quadraplegic and use your tongue to type. And I have no idea what an "aircraf" is.

actually debbie the term artificial smoke is correct as it is ARTIFICIALLY created think before you open your mouth.

Artifcial smoke as in by using smoke canisters that the military uses for diversion or for landing zones for military aircraf, not smoke that is caused by fires.

"artificial smoke"? As opposed to "real" smoke?
