Two fallen Colorado soldiers are gone but not forgotten.
Specialist Justin Blackwell, 27, and 18-year-old Private First Class Jeremy Bohannon were both honored at a Fort Carson memorial Thursday.
They were the 220th and 221st soldiers to be killed from the Mountain Post.
Specialist Blackwell had been serving since 2000. He and PFC Bohannon died on August 5
“If it weren't for their willingness to stand up for what we know is right and having the knowledge of what they're standing for then we can't have the chance of enjoying the freedoms we do,” said Stephen Blackwell Sr., Justin’s father.
Stephen Blackwell Sr., along with his three other sons have all served in the military.
Specialist Blackwell's brother is stationed at Fort Carson as well.
Both Blackwell and Bohannon were from Tennessee and assigned to the 59th Military Police Company, 759th MP Battalion.
