Wife Nominates Sgt. Travis Thompson As Colorado Hero

Sgt. Travis Thompson is a soldier serving with 3-61 at Fort Carson. His wife, Heather Thompson, wrote to KKTV saying her husband is her hero and we agree; he's a Colorado Hero!

Heather says her husband's unit will return from Afghanistan in May. His unit, 3-61 is part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

Thompson and his wife have a 1-year-old daughter, Wynter. Heather says she loves him very much and is very proud of him and what he does for our family.

"He is our Hero. I am behind him [through] anything," Heather says.

Travis may be Heather's Hero just like I am my wife's hero. That is about as far it'll go. A true Hero is someone who sacrifices his life or limb to safe others. Taking out an enemy position single handedly would be another qualification for hero. I think the civilians like to call us heros since we do things they do not even dream about and that makes them say we are heros

You become a hero the day that you sign your name on that paper. There's many ways of being a HERO, even if you don't fall on a grenade!!!!! I want to thank Sgt. Thompson for everything he does for us everyday.
