Six troops killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan Sunday were Americans, NATO has confirmed.

The Taliban was quick to take responsibility, issuing a statement saying the soldiers died when their tank ran over a bomb in a province south of Kabul.

A spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition said he couldn't disclose any further details at this time, including the identities of the victims. 11 News will report any additional information as soon as it becomes available.
