Hundreds of Soldiers Deploy For 12-Month Tour In Afghanistan

More than 300 Fort Carson soldiers said tearful goodbyes to friends and family Friday, as they deployed to Afghanistan for a 12-month tour.

About 3,500 soldiers with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at the Mountain Post have now deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The hundreds of soldiers that began their tour Friday make up some of the last of the 4BCT troops to leave.

These Southern Colorado soldiers will spend the next year completing missions and providing security in Afghanistan.

Friends and family said goodbye to the soldiers at the Mountain Post, there were lots of tears and hugs as they boarded the buses to embark on their mission.
