It was a late-night homecoming Monday from Iraq for a rescued puppy, coming home to be part of a Fort Carson soldier's family.
11 News first told you about Pacino in January. He was rescued by Sergeant Daniel Schaeffer when he was just a small puppy roaming the streets of Iraq. He was injured, hungry and homeless.
SGT Schaeffer couldn't bear to leave him for dead, so he dressed his wounds and nursed Pacino back to health. Once he was healthy and it was time for Schaeffer to return to the United States, the next hurdle was getting him here.
With the help of an organization called Operation Baghdad Pups, Pacino made it to Denver International Airport last night to the loving arms of SGT Schaeffer and his wife, Sheila.
Pacino will live with his new family right here in Colorado Springs.
