WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama has asked his military leaders to do additional planning, if needed, to put together a responsible U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq.
Obama issued a statement Wednesday saying he also plans to consult with his top military chiefs in the coming days to review the situation in Afghanistan.
The comments were issue by the White House, after Obama met with his senior military and civilian national security advisers to discuss the way ahead in the Iraq war.
