Tuesday was a day of celebration, not only for the masses in Washington D.C. but here at home for hundreds in Colorado Springs.
207 Ft. Carson soldiers have returned after 15 long months in Iraq.
Members of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team’s 183rd Maintenance Company are leading the way home for the rest of 3rd BCT.
During their deployment, they stood guard at Baghdad’s Victory Base Compound, manning watchtowers and checkpoints, while supporting nearly 60,000 other soldiers.
They are now home to see the nation turn a corner in history.
"It's pretty special to me because of the historic nature of the new president. I'm sure we'll do whatever we can to support him as a nation and as an Army," said SSG Joe Radermacher.
The rest of 3rd BCT's 3,800 soldiers have begun the process of returning to Ft. Carson. Another group arrives at noon Wednesday.
