The 1-6 Cavalry soldiers have been supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom by flying reconnaissance and security missions in support of the 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division. These soldiers work on and fly Kiowa helicopters.

After several delays, the soldiers finally entered the gym on Fort Carson to loud applause and cheers. The soldiers had been traveling for the past 31 hours and were all ready to be home. One soldier said he wanted some Chipotle, another, saying he was craving a home baked lasagna from his mom.

This group of 50, follows a homecoming of 75 last week. There are 240 soldiers left in the 1-6th Cav that are due home next Wednesday. Just in time for Thanksgiving.
