An enlisted airman at the Air Force Academy has been sentenced to four months in military confinement after being convicted of desertion and failure to obey an order.
A panel of military officers at the academy returned its guilty verdict Friday in the court-martial for Airman 1st Class David Christie. He had been charged with violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice by deserting with intent to shirk important service, as well as willfully disobeying a noncommissioned officer.
The panel said Christie intended to remain away permanently.
Christie was assigned to the 10th Security Forces Squadron.
The officers also sentenced Christie to forfeiture of $500 pay for two months and a bad conduct discharge.
