Two 9-year-old best friends are making a difference in the world one soft and fuzzy gift at a time.

Heidi Harris and Alissa Allen are collecting stuffed animals to send to children they've never met in Iraq.

Local restaurants, shops and Academy International Elementary School are all pitching in to support these girls.

"I hope they'll be shocked to get the stuffed animals and and at least bring a smile on their face," said Heidi Harris.

Alissa's dad is deployed right now. The plan is to have him hand out the animals once they're shipped to him overseas.

You can donate your gently used and new stuffed animals and soccer balls until May 23 at various drop off locations.
