Two Fort Carson soldiers killed in action were honored Thursday morning at the mountain post.
Forty-one-year-old Staff Sergeant Michael Elledge from Brownsburg, Indiana and 23-year-old Sergeant Christopher Simpson of Hampton, Virginia were both assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Carson. Sergeant Simpson was promoted posthumously from Corporal.
Both were killed on March 17 when their vehicle was hit by an IED.
SSG Elledge is survived by his mother Marion Crimens, wife Carleen, two sons Christopher and Caleb and his daughter Cassidy.
SGT Simpson leaves behind his parents Scott Simpson and Kate McLaughlin, his brothers Richard, Mathew and Michael, his sister Anna, and his fiancee Carol Fries.
