A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
It was a scary sight for people in the Monument area Friday morning as black smoke drifted out of a field and over the interstate.
Multiple agencies responded to the Monument Soc 'n Roll near Baptist Road on the west side of I-25 just after 10 a.m. for a fire that had started behind the building.
The fire burned a 30 feet by 50 feet storage building along with a smaller storage building. The damage is estimated at $250,000. A preliminary investigation shows it was accidental.
