It was a scary sight for people in the Monument area Friday morning as black smoke drifted out of a field and over the interstate.

Multiple agencies responded to the Monument Soc 'n Roll near Baptist Road on the west side of I-25 just after 10 a.m. for a fire that had started behind the building.

The fire burned a 30 feet by 50 feet storage building along with a smaller storage building. The damage is estimated at $250,000. A preliminary investigation shows it was accidental.
