A man kicked a would-be robber in the knee after the suspect allegedly tried to slash him when the victim said he didn't have any money.
The 26-year-old man said the suspect approached him with a knife and demanded money. The suspect apparently swung the knife and scratched the victim's arm. The victim did not need medical attention, according to police.
The victim told police his attacker ran off after he kicked him in the knee.
Police looked for the suspect, but didn't find him. He is described as a black man in his 30s, 6'0" tall and 210 lbs. He has a muscular build and is unshaven. He was wearing a black hoodie, jeans and black and white tennis shoes.
The incident happened on the 3800 block of Van Teylingen around 10:00 p.m. Sunday.
