Anna Dille, a 16-year-old female sophomore from Woodland Park High School passed away Monday. Her parents found her body Monday, when they went to wake her up for school.
The Woodland Park Police Department received a call at approximately 7:50 a.m. that the girl had stopped breathing. Officers, paramedics and a fire rescue team were sent to the home and found the girl was already dead.
According to Woodland Park Police Chief Robert Larson, the Teller County Coroner performed an autopsy Tuesday. They found no sign of physical trauma or any other indication as to the cause of Dille's death.
Further laboratory analyses could take four to six weeks.
At this point, the police say, the focus of their investigation is on natural causes.
The school district has asked reporters to “please respect the family’s privacy as they begin coping with the tragic loss of their beloved daughter.”
At this time, details of a memorial service haven't been announced. A crisis response team is being made available to other students or staff.
