The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the scene where a woman reportedly was shot through the front door of her home Sunday.
A woman who went to answer a knock at her front door suffered serious injuries when she was reportedly shot several times through the door.
Two days later, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested two teenagers in connection to the shooting. Evan Hesselberg, 17, was arrested Monday and 16-year-old Devin Riensch was arrested Tuesday. The Sheriff's Office released the names of both suspects and say they have been charged with attempted first-degree murder and felony assault, among other charges.
The shooting happened at 2 a.m. Sunday on the 300 block of Morning Glory in Pueblo West. The 34-year-old victim, identified as Cheryl Gonzales, was at home with her husband and three children at the time. None of them were hurt.
Authorities say Gonzales thwarted the teens' attempt at a home invasion, shutting the door on them to prevent them from getting in. The boys then began shooting at her through the closed door, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Detectives recovered seven guns; they say two were found in Riensch's home. All of the guns were reported stolen from Hesselberg's grandfather's home late last month.
In addition to the two teenagers, the Sheriff's Office says they arrested six other people associated with the incident:
Shane Vaught, 40: possession of a schedule II controlled substance and warrant for burglary
Raymond Younger, 24: possession of a schedule I narcotic
Clifford Halverson, 55: violation of a protection order (weapons) and theft
Stacey Reinsch, 42: possession with intent to distribute a schedule II drug, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, contributing to the delinquency of a minor
Anthony Scott, 25: failure to appear-traffic
Blake Clement: failure to appear-robbery
The Sheriff's Office says the six additional arrests were people who were contacted during the investigation, and were "adults who either had warrants, were found in possession of controlled substances when contacted, or had committed other crimes discovered as a result of this investigation." Riensch and Hesselberg are the only ones who have been charged in the shooting at this time.
The shooting victim was in critical condition at last report.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police right away.
