A Widefield teacher and coach is one of three people killed in a crash outside of Telluride.
Edward Bollman was behind the wheel when he went off the right side of Colorado 145 and hit a sign before the vehicle rolled down a steep hill, according to our partners at the Gazette.
The crash happened early Saturday morning while the group was on their way to a campsite after celebrating the Fourth of July.
Two other people were also killed. They are Garrett LaForce, 26 of Littleton, and Carly Sansone, 21 of Smiths Creek, Mich.
A fourth person, 24-year-old Weston Gleiss of Eagle, survived the crash. He crawled from the wreckage and flagged down help, according to the Telluride Daily Planet. The Gazette reports that a dog also survived the accident.
Bollman graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2013 and moved to Colorado Springs to teach math and coach girls' volleyball at Watson Junior High in Security-Widefield. He was expected to teach as Widefield High School this fall.
"He was an amazing guy and he was in teaching for all the right reasons: he really loved his students and wanted to help shape them into responsible citizens and adults," Watson Junior High principal told the Gazette.
