LONGMONT (CBS4) – Boulder County has its first positive test of the West Nile Virus.

Boulder County health officials say mosquitos found in traps in Longmont tested positive for the virus earlier this week.

The number of culex mosquitos, which carry the virus, increases as temperatures rise.

While West Nile has not been as prominent as in years past, health officials stress that it has not gone away.

West Nile has also been found in cases in Larimer and Mesa counties.
