As a family struggles to cope with the untimely loss of a woman killed while walking in a Springs neighborhood, loved ones are preparing for a memorial service Thursday afternoon.
Rose Arcuragi, 54, was walking with her friend Rebecca Lynn Robinson Monday when both were hit and killed by an oncoming car at the North Carefree and Picturesque intersection. Robinson was pushing her 14-month-old in a stroller; the force of impact knocked the child out of the stroller. The child was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Arcuragi's father told 11 News the two women were trying to incorporate exercise into their lives, and were walking together for the first time Monday.
"They never came home," Richard Coulier said.
The driver, identified as Jennifer Eggleton, has been charged with careless driving resulting in death and hitting pedestrians while in a crosswalk.
A service for Arcuragi will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on North Murray between Constitution and Palmer Park beginning at 4:30 p.m. A candlelight vigil is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Scenic Circle, near the accident site.
