The laws of physics are to blame for a brief scare in Colorado Springs Friday morning. A liquid nitrogen truck was venting normally as the temperature changed, but firefighters didn’t immediately know it was a normal operation.
The truck was parked in a lot off Lake Avenue between a Denny’s restaurant and a Best Western Hotel, where the driver was later found.
Because nobody knew immediately why the truck was venting, police and firefighters cordoned off the area around the truck.
Eventually, they found the driver who explained that most of the tank’s cargo had been previously offloaded. What little remained was venting normally, as the day warmed up.
