After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon, though areas in higher elevations could see 1-2". The main impact will be the cold along with winds gusting up to 40 mph at times. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
Pikes Peak United Way will officially serve a new community of people with its 211 information program.
It has partnered up with the Peak Military Care Network in an effort to help veterans and service members personally by connecting them with United Way advocates.
By calling 211, military members will be assisted with services.
Michelle Milner, the Pikes Peak United Way 211 director, noted that the Colorado Springs' sizable active-duty and retired military community is a largely untapped portion of the population potentially in need of the types of assistance the United Way provides.
"It's a natural fit with 211 since that’s what we do every single day for the people in our community in need," Milner said. "Now we’re just adding military population to the population that we serve."
Milner told 11 News the partnership has been in the works for awhile, but is now finally coming to fruition.
If needing to reach the United Way, you can call 211 or call United Way directly at 955-0742.
