Two people are displaced after a fire damaged their home Saturday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. on Alexander Road near Platte and Union in Colorado Springs.

The people who rent the home reportedly smelled smoke and called the fire department.

The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents and their two dogs find a temporary place to stay.

The fire was ruled accidental. Investigators say it started because of an electrical failure.
