Rollover Cleared On I-25 In Central Colorado Springs

A semi-truck carrying lumber rolled over on I-25 in central Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon. The accident blocked lanes until nearly 10:45 p.m. Saturday night.

Southbound lanes were closed shortly after 5 p.m. at the scene of the crash in the southbound lanes near the Cimarron exit.

The driver lost control getting onto the highway from the Cimarron entrance ramp. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The crash caused significant backups on the interstate. Southbound traffic was diverted off the highway at the Bijou exit during the clean up process.

Excessive speed and wind are being considered possible factors in the rollover.

That's a very dangerous and poorly designed entrance ramp. You shoul be able to accelerate up to highway speed to merge with traffic. As you pick up speed on this ramp, you hit a hard right turn that is off cambered. DOT should be held responsible for this accident.

It's funny that you should say wind is being considered as a factor. According to the Gazette, the police told them wind is NOT being considered. Hmmmm.
