A storm system will begin to impact Southern Colorado by late this morning. Mountain locations will simply see snow, but lower elevations will see rain eventually change to snow by later this afternoon. Locations higher in elevation will see the heaviest snow, due to colder temperatures. So then, Teller County, far northwest El Paso County, and the Wet & Sangre de Cristo Mountains will likely see several inches of wet snow. The major cities will see far less snow and the storm will exit toward early Saturday morning.
A stolen truck has been returned, after 11 News aired a story about a burglary that had taken place earlier this week.
Shawtae Thomas told us she walked in to a crime scene when she checked on her friend's home. The friend is out of town and the house was completely ransacked and many things were stolen, including the truck.
This happened near Jet Wing and Fountain on the southeast side of Colorado Springs.
"Really the TVs and everything is replaceable, but that truck- kind of need that back,” Thomas said.
The truck was donated to Thomas' friend for her non-profit, Operation Homefront.
"For somebody to come in and do this to her seeing how much she gives back, is just wrong," Thomas said.
But the truck is back with Operation Homefront now. A viewer watching 11 News at 10 on Tuesday night saw the description of the truck and called our tipline. She told us that truck was on her street.
11 News called police and confirmed with them on the scene it was the truck Thomas reported stolen. But they have no information about a suspect.
If you have any information about the burglary, call police. The number is (719) 444-7000.
