11 News has the surveillance video that captures the moment a truck comes barreling down a neighborhood street and crashes into a home and car.
Colorado Springs Police said Jorge Lopez-Vazquez, 18, was the driver of that truck. The accident happened on the 200 block of S. Chelton, near Airport in Colorado Springs Friday night.
Investigators said Lopez-Vazquez was going too fast and missed a curve in the road. He lost control and first crashed into a garage, then police say the truck flipped into a neighboring driveway, hitting a vehicle parked there.
We talked to the homeowners and victims of this crash, they're absolutely in shock. They still can't believe how extensive the damage is.
On surveillance video, you can see as the truck comes around the curve on Chelton incredibly fast. The driver crashed into Melissa Mitchell's home and continues to flip.
"I don't know what to think really, I haven't processed it all," Mitchell said.
Karolyn Bryant lives next door. The truck rolled into their driveway and on top of her cousin's car.
"I just heard a huge crash, and then another crash, and then another crash," Bryant said.
Police told us the 18-year-old driver, had been drinking and was speeding between 60-80 miles an hour down the street.
"It has affected that house, this house, and the neighbor’s house, one house down. I mean it's crazy," Bryant said.
"It looks like a bomb went off," Mitchell added.
Lopez and two passengers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One of the passengers, 17, sustained a broken arm.
No one in either home was injured.
Lopez faces charges of careless driving, DUI and vehicular assault. He is currently being held in the El Paso County Jail on a $10,000 bond. The road was closed for nearly 5 hours during the investigation.
