The trial for the father accused of heading up a group of bank robbers nicknamed the ball cap bandits is starting, and KKTV 11 News has learned he is facing even more charges.
Brock Butson is accused of being the get away driver while his sons, Nick and Branden, reportedly robbed a total of 10 banks across Colorado Springs and Monument last year.
Court papers allege that while Nick was being transferred to the Trinidad prison, his mom was given some of his things. That when she apparently found a letter Brock allegedly wrote to Nick.
The letter says, in part: "I go to trial in April. I'm going to claim false confession to get you guys better deals... Think about not testifying, refusing to testify or going along with me. They can't change your deal."
Nick Butson told police he could not lie for his father and his testimony was the "full blown truth."
