A teen accused of hiding a murder suspect in his home has pleaded guilty.

Jerel Couch, 19, was arrested in January on accessory to first-degree murder charges. He pleaded guilty Tuesday to accessory to a crime, a class 5 felony.

Couch is accused of hiding 17-year-old Macyo January after he allegedly killed a Fort Carson soldier and his pregnant wife during a burglary on Jan. 14. Police say the couple surprised the suspect, believed to be January, who then opened fire on the pair.

The victims were identified as Staff Sgt. David Dunlap and Whitney Butler. January has been charged as an adult for the crime.

Investigators say Couch is not believed to be involved with shootings, only hiding January afterwards.

Couch will be sentenced in September. The accessory charge carries up to three years in jail, but because of his age at the time of the crime, he will be eligible for youth intervention programs, meaning he might not serve any jail time.
