Wednesday will offer more cloud cover and cooler temperatures. By later Wednesday afternoon, rain showers will develop across the Pikes Peak Region and slowly drift southward. Those rain showers will change to snow at higher elevations, and accumulations will be likely. At lower elevations, snow accumulation does not appear to be a big deal. Three people were hospitalized after a head-on crash on Barnes Road in Colorado Springs.
It happened about 12:15 a.m. Saturday.
All lanes of Barnes were closed from Powers Blvd. to Iron Horse Trail while rescue workers responded to the accident.
Police said a dark colored sedan was traveling east on Barnes Rd. when it went into the westbound lanes and hit a gray SUV head-on.
They said One person from each vehicle had to be extricated by Colorado Springs Fire Department.
Springs police said the drivers from each vehicle and one passenger were all transport to local hospitals with minor injuries. Originally 11 News was told at the scene that one person was in critical condition, and two others were in serious condition.
Barnes Rd. was completely closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
Police said alcohol was determined to be a factor in the crash.
