Power has been restored several hours after a car crash caused a large outage occurred in the Broadmoor/Ivywild area.
At its height at 8:35 a.m., when the outage was first reported, almost 4,000 customers were impacted. Based on a map on the Colorado Springs Utilities website, the outage area was originally west of Highway 115 and north of Lake Avenue, with some homes in the Stratton Meadow area east of Highway 115 and west of I-25 included.
Police have confirmed that the outage is due to an accident at Lorraine and LaClede, near Cheyenne Boulevard, at 8:34 a.m. The driver reportedly hit a power pole, knocking power out for thousands in the area. No serious injuries were reported.
