A 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed while on a hunting trip with his family in the San Isabel National Forest has been identified.
He is Ian Dante Muro of Brighton, Colo.
Investigators say it appears the teen accidentally shot himself.
The Muro's family told the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office that the boy was alone a short distance away when they heard one gunshot.
They reportedly found him lying face up, with his rifle across his chest. He had been shot in the chest.
Emergency responders pronounced him dead.
The teen's grandfather, father and mother were with him on the hunting trip.
It happened four miles west of County Road 221 near Forest Service Road 222 on national forest land on Saturday around after 5:00 p.m.
The Chaffee County Sheriff's office says although a preliminary investigations indicates that the fatal shot was self-inflicted accidentally, the incident is still under investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
