Snow showers continue this evening creating slick road conditions across southern Colorado. Overnight the N Pikes Peak Region sees a second push of moisture and locally heavy snowfall will once again be possible. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for far northern El Paso County where ~4" are possible by Tuesday morning. Also ahead, a High Wind Warning for much of southeast Colorado from 4-11am Tuesday morning as wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph. A teacher accused of inappropriately touching a 13-year-old girl admits to the crime, according to arrest documents.
Fernando Ornelas, 65, is accused of grabbing a student's buttocks. According to arrest papers KKTV 11 News obtained, Ornelas told an officer that he often kissed students on the cheek and the head. He told the officer that he had "crossed the line" as a teacher.
When asked if he had grabbed a student's buttocks, he told the officer he had, and said that he had "gone too far."
When the officer interviewed the accuser, she told the officer that Ornelas first asked her for a hug. She complied, but then he asked for a kiss. She told him no because he had "cooties."
Ornelas was arrested in January. He is a music teacher at Hanover Junior-Senior High. He is currently on paid administrative leave.
