A canine crimefighter stopped a fleeing fugitive, according to Colorado Springs police.
CSPD says Vader was able to find the suspect hiding in a large pile of tires Wednesday afternoon.
The incident started just before 1 p.m. after the CSPD Auto Theft Unit located a stolen vehicle on the 1000 block of Magnolia Street, which is near North Nevada and Mt View Lane. Police set up surveillance in the area, and spotted a "wanted fugitive" walking towards the vehicle about two hours later.
When police tried to approach the suspect, he allegedly ran off. Police say officers chased him more than a mile before finally cornering him at a building on the 3500 block of New Nichols Heights. That's when Vader stepped in.
K-9 Officer Andy Genta brought Vader to the scene, and after issuing a warning deployed the police dog. Vader immediately found the suspect and brought him into custody.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Antonio Reddell, was treated for injuries sustained during his encounter with Vader, then taken to the CJC.
