A man accused of committing over one hundred home burglaries over the last year is behind bars.
The man accused in the crime spree is 51 year old Richard Cantu of Colorado Springs.
Cantu didn't just burglarize a home for sale on Wordsworth Circle, he moved right in. Court papers say he cooked food in the kitchen and even helped himself to a warm shower. Neighbors didn't know about it.
"It’s just unbelievable for someone to do that to anybody,” Shirley Richardson said.
But that's not all, he then posted an ad on Craigslist for the Maytag washer and dryer he reportedly stole from the house. The real owner happened to spot the ad and pretended he was a buyer. The two even met and police made their arrest. Neighbors say they now plan to be more vigilant.
“It’s really scary to know somebody was back there and we didn't know they were back there,” Flo Spradling explained.
During their investigation, detectives recovered more than $15,000 dollars in stolen items from those break-ins.
Police have a warrant out for a second suspect involved in this crime spree, his name is Robert Swiatek.
