A sun glare may have caused a crash that left a 2-year-old in critical condition.

The toddler was hit by an SUV Thursday while chasing a stray ball into the street. He remains in the hospital Friday with life-threatening injuries to the head.

Sister station KCNC says the driver may have swerved to avoid the collision, and did remain on scene afterwards. Investigators are now working to learn if a sun glare obstructed the driver's view of the child and caused the crash.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Green Court and Grove Street in west Denver.
