A substitute teacher faces several charges after authorities say she got involved with a teenage student.
According to the Conejos County Sheriff's Office, a search warrant revealed that 30-year-old Cara Holman had been sending the 17-year-old "numerous" inappropriate text messages.
Authorities say an investigation into the relationship revealed that Holman and the student had been seen leaving the teen's place of employment in Antonito during his lunch hour. The pair allegedly would go outside the town's city limits and have sexual relations.
The principal of Centauri, one of the schools Holman subbed at, first notified the sheriff's office about the relationship. Holman was a substitute for the Centauri and Sanford school districts.
Holman was arrested Wednesday at the Antonito Medical Clinic parking lot and booked in a jail on a $20,000 bond. She faces charges of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, criminal attempt to commit contributing to the delinquency of a minor and solicitation to commit tampering with physical evidence.
